TRACES

This is an exhibit with three other artists in which we all explored the concept of "traces". 
I focused on the traces of memories from my childhood of travels from state to state and the constantly changing environment, both familial and geographical.  I crisscrossed the United States as a child with my large family, living in five states by the time I was 10 years old. From my early life, art was a refuge and escape from constant turmoil. “Traveling, exploring, and experiencing new places through art continues to be my passion and way of connecting intimately with my environment. For Traces, I’m re-tracing my childhood travels and memories.”  Some of the paintings are narrative, telling the story about important moments in my life.  Others are more conceptual, based on visual memories.  All have orange stepping stones, signifying the steps along my life path.   See Exhibits for more information.

The Land

Our 5th annual collaboration, Warren Arnold, Hanya Popova Parker, and I presented this exhibit of "The Land" as the subject on Labor Day Weekend at Blue Gum Gallery.  We chose more than a dozen specific locations that had meaning to each of us.  Hanya and I did drawings, Warren did sculptures from our drawings, then we did paintings from his sculptures.  My "drawings" were watercolors and my paintings were encaustic...

Painting Trip in France

I co-lead a group of artists on a 2-week painting trip in the south of France in June, 2007.  Based in Bormes, we painted the lovely town of Bormes and visited Collobrieres, Hyeres, Le Lavandou, Port Cros, and St. Tropez.  I'm also including several of the paintings I did from a trip to the same area in June, 2005.
